News from Nichola
Hello!
It's good reading up on the blog as there are so many things mentioned that I forget to tell too! I HAVE been on the skyrail and i DID go to the Tjapukai centre - that was fun. They did a good show for us acting out as Cassowary birds (3rd biggest found here in rainforest) and other animals. I got to throw a boomerang (not very well!) and a spear too. Nanny the Great Barrier Reef is the biggest best in the world, you can see it from space! It's been top of my list of things I want to see for years! It's where all the fish and exciting underwater things are... I saw a stingray and a turtle and giant clams the same as in that picture you've put up! I took my underwater camera with me so hopefully it worked and you can see. Some people saw white-tipped sharks but I missed out... maybe I'll spot them when I sail the whitsundays tomorrow. I think Elise is heavier than my Joey Oliver, and they were about the same age. Give her a hug from me! So did Sophie go on any rides?! Did Addy-poo get his car fixed?
Hope everybody's well. I'm going to grab some lunch.
In 1987, a cross-cultural group of entertainers created Australia's first Aboriginal dance theatre in the small village of Kuranda, near Cairns.
Operating out of a hastily renovated shopping centre basement, Tjapukai Dance Theatre offered the first ever opportunity for tourist visitors to experience and interact with Australia's 40,000 year old culture.
Today, Tjapukai's show business has become the most awarded Aboriginal cultural attraction in Australia and is credited with enhancing reconciliation locally, nationally and internationally.
Tjapukai showcases the culture of the rainforest people of Tropical North Queensland.
Situated on 25 acres of land owned by the Tjapukai people at Caravonica, north of Cairns, Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is a stunning theatrical interpretation of Aboriginal culture from the beginning of time into the future.
Seven separate arenas allow visitors to experience every facet of the rainforest people's culture - from the provocative History Theatre to the inspiring Creation Theatre, and the original Dance Theatre and the interactive Camp Village, where visitors can learn didgeridoo playing and boomerang throwing.
Speak soon!

Bunjee jump in the rain forest
Nichola has taken a brave step, or is it a brave leap, bunjee jumped in the rainforest. This sport is not for the faint hearted.
Of all the adventure activities to do in Tropical North Queensland, there are none that raise the hairs on people's backs like Bungy Jumping does. The idea of throwing yourself off a high tower towards a shallow pool with a giant rubber band tied attached to your ankles is, to put it mildly, scary as hell for most people.
It's all about the fear factor. Bungy jumping for some people is about pushing your limits, challenging your mind and body, and simply being able to say, “I did it!”

Hi Nichola - Wonder if they celebrate Halloween out there? Thanks a bunch for keeping us all so well informed of your "doings". Hope you managed to get some pics of the magnificent butterflies.I guess you heard that we`ve received some good pics of you and the gang (via somebody that was in your group??) We changed clock time last night, and its 9.30 a.m. now - still cant get my head round your time - probably about 6 in the evening - hope it was a fun day again. Think you were going to the Reef - I must admit I don`t know anything about that - guess I`ll find out though!
Met your Mum in Bromley yesterday for a cup of tea - and joined about an hour later by your Dad - for another cup of tea - life here is just one long round of excitement!!! But we are having lunch at your house today - and I`m looking forward to that. Having lots of lovely smiley cheeky times with Elise - she`s gorgeous. I'm Nichola...get me out of here
27th October and news from Nichola is that she is now out of the rainforest. Whilst there she enjoyed the company of 'Amazing' butterflies very very pretty. She reports that she is feeling a bit giddy after a very twisty trip along roads to get out of the rainforest.
Plans for the rest of the day well to go and have a dip in the hotel pool before her next adventure, another big one, the Barrier Reef.Whilst in the rainforest Nichola stayed at the rainforest lodge (see pictures).

News from Cairns
Morning!
Off to the rainforest today, theres only nine of us most from uk. More join us on Saturday.Going to beach for breakfast then Port Douglas and Mossman Gorge.
Are you all OK
Lots of love
Nichola xxx
Part of the Daintree National Park, Mossman Gorge is one of the most popular visitor spots in the Wet Tropics. The rainforest walks are spectacular and the creek offers scenic views and opportunities for swimming. You can picnic by the river and spend hours relaxing in the cool shade of the rainforest. The Short Loop takes you along the banks of Mossman River, with plenty of spots to swim and play in the g the banks.
The Gorge Circuit is a three kilometre return loop which continues on from the short walk along the Mossman River and takes you over the old wooden suspension bridge and up into some towering rainforest. Listen to the many different bird calls and spend some time pondering the magnificence of the giant fig trees with their roots snaking along the forest floor. Escape the crowds of the carpark and wander the primeval rainforest with its rivers full of boulders and small ferny creeks.

HOT OFF THE PRESS
Hello! Here's a pic of our "P" party day... I'm the plant! I've just been abandoned by everyone on my tour, a lot of them are heading down the east coast and they flew to Cairns yesterday. I'm flying there tomorrow and will get to catch up with them for one last night so I'm looking forward to that! Then I've got a couple of days to browse surf shops for a new bikini and perhaps some funky shorts before starting my next tour and meeting lots more people. Yesterday I went to the Flying Doctors presentation - they save people from the remoteness of this northern territory! I also held a Joey - a baby kangaroo - that was really cool. Hows is everyone at home? Hope you're all well and enjoy laughing at the picture! I've enjoyed the ones you've posted on my blog!
Lots of love
They are so friendly here
Everyone is so friendly here even the manager of the hotel has spoken to me about five times!!! Glad you liked my dancing at the club ha ha. The people I met where doing my tour but the other way round, East coast first then Northern Territory. They seemed a very nice bunch of people.
Love to all

Where is Nichola
Nichola has now finished the first part of her wild adventure and has had a couple of days at Alice Springs to get a bit of rest Ha Ha.
Tomorrow 22nd October she flies off to Cairns to start the next stage of the trip. Information on Cairns
Cairns (pronounced /ˈkeːnz/ or /ˈkɛɹnz/ or (cans), 16°57′S, 145°45′E) is a regional city and Local Government Area located in Queensland, Australia. Originally settled in 1876, and named after William Wellington Cairns (the then Governor of Queensland) to serve miners heading for the Hodgkinson River goldfield, the settlement declined when an easier route was discovered from Port Douglas. However, Cairns' future was secured as it developed into a railhead and major port for the exportation of sugar cane, gold, precious metals and agricultural industries from the surrounding coastal and Tableland regions. The city is rapidly expanding, with a population of 127,438 (as of Feb, 2006),[4] and is reliant on the sugar and tourism industries.
The City of Cairns lies about 1,720 kilometres (1,070 miles) from Brisbane and about 2,500 kilometres (1,600 miles) from Sydney by road.
Cairns is a popular travel destination for foreign tourists because of its tropical climate and proximity to many attractions. The Great Barrier Reef can be reached in less than an hour by boat. The Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation, about 130 kilometres (80 miles) north of Cairns, are popular areas for experiencing a tropical rainforest. It is also a starting point for people wanting to explore Cooktown, Cape York Peninsula, and the Atherton Tableland.
The city has used its natural surrounds to its advantage with the construction of several small theme parks for tourists. Among them are Rainforestation nature park, the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and the Kuranda Skyrail Gondola Cableway, which extends for 7.5 kilometres over World Heritage rainforest.

Hi there No Fear Nichola, its great keeping in touch with what you've been upto on the Blog. The trip looks amazing but riding around Aires Rock on a Harley must be the ultimate in cool! When we talked about 'life is what you make of it' i didn't really expect you to go this mad but I can hardly wait 4 the next instalment!
We've had an exciting(?) week with Mark starting a new job in Sunbury and Elise starting on solid food. Elise had her baby friends over for lunch yesterday, she was on her best behaviour until everyone went home and then ....
take care and lol from Gail XXX
